Scott Young joins Offshore Wind Growth Partnership Board of Directors
The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) has appointed Scott Young, Director of Renewable Delivery at RenewableUK, as a non-independent Director on its Board.
Scott leads RenewableUK’s delivery team across fixed-bottom offshore wind, floating offshore wind, onshore wind, and flexibility and storage. He also oversees work on skills, supply chain, environment and consenting, and regional clusters, areas central to the successful delivery of renewable energy projects across the UK.
Before becoming Director of Renewable Delivery, Scott led skills activity within the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC). He continues to lead the sector’s engagement with trade unions and its work on the Energy Skills Passport. Before joining RenewableUK, Scott spent more than a decade working on major infrastructure projects.
As OWGP and its partners turn their attention to developing the next iteration of the Industrial Growth Plan with a focus on delivery, implementation and measurable outcomes, Scott’s insights and experience in skills, regional clusters and sustainability will prove valuable in supporting this work and its effective delivery.
Scott Young, Director of Renewable Delivery at RenewableUK and OWGP board member said:
“I am delighted to join the OWGP Board at such an important time for the UK offshore wind sector. OWGP has a vital role in turning the Industrial Growth Plan into practical action, and I look forward to bringing fresh perspectives to the Board as we work together to strengthen supply chain capability and long-term competitiveness.”
Scott Young succeeds Jane Cooper as RenewableUK’s appointed representative on the OWGP Board. During her tenure, Jane provided valuable insight, leadership and constructive challenge at a pivotal stage in OWGP’s recent evolution, helping the organisation take on its expanded role as the delivery body for the Offshore Wind Industrial Growth Plan.
Anil Sayhan, Managing Director of OWGP, commented:
“Jane has made a substantial contribution to OWGP during her time on the board. Her strong commitment to collaboration has been instrumental in strengthening our relationships with the Offshore Wind Industry Council and its developer members, whose support underpins OWGP’s activities. We are deeply appreciative of the energy, dedication and expertise she has brought to advancing our organisational objectives.
“I am delighted to welcome Scott to the Board. His considerable experience spanning renewable energy delivery, skills development and supply-chain strategy will bring significant value as we continue to secure the UK’s position as a global leader in offshore wind.”
On her departure from the OWGP board, Jane Cooper added:
“It has been a privilege to serve on the OWGP Board and to support the organisation through a period of significant development. I am proud of what OWGP has achieved with its partners and of its growing role in helping UK supply chain companies across the UK succeed in offshore wind. I wish Scott every success and know his experience will be a real asset to the Board.”
